Photo Festival.
I was just going through photos on my machine to clean out duplicates and the such and enjoyed looking at some of them………… so I figured you might enjoy looking at them too. Some of these are old and others not. Let me know which photos you like.

There’s a bunch of good photos to enjoy. Karin’s bike, The off white bike, and the brown bike with the fenders I really like. The one of your cat and the deer is really cool. But what’s with the freaking Matchbox car and the tires?!
The Brown bike with fenders and the curved seat post is the best looking bike i’ve ever seen. Your car rocks! Grateful Dead paint jobs rock!
Photo #20 is my fave of the bunch. That bike just says fast, backroads fun.
Those big tire are crazy aren’t they. The photo was taken in a parking lot in Butte MT where we held an autocross event and they are stored there by the tire shop next door. There’s no need to secure them as they are a bit too big to pick up and roll off. I’m told they sell for $12,000 each. Butte is a huge mining town and the tires are used on dump trucks used in the open pit mine there.

The brown bike is a special one isn’t it. The horizontal lines of the building bring out the whole art-deco feel of the bike. I love it. You should see that Dead paint job up close – stunning.

I’m pleased to say that is my personal cross bike. I heart that thing. It’s been seeing a lot of use this year. There is something special to me about this bike. It’s the first ‘Kirk’ I’ve owned that isn’t a prototype or test bed for new ideas. It’s the same thing I would make for a customer and it’s nice to have a clean bike that hasn’t had tubes replaced and geometry altered for testing purposes. I hope to build myself a new JKS this fall that is the same way………. but time is short so who knows. It’s not like I’m suffering otherwise.
Thanks for the comment.

Dave. . . what dropouts are those? Can they be had from anywhere or are the a Kirk Special only?
Those are dropouts of my design. Up until now I’ve had only a very limited supply but I just got a box of them in for other builders to purchase. I’ll post details on how that can be done very soon in this space.
Thanks for asking.

Dave,
I am interested in working with you drop outs too. Is that a round shape on the ends to butt to the stays as opposed to a plug type end? It looks like you build the brass up around the outside and blend it into the stay.
Thanks, Wil
Following the questions on those dropouts, any chance a fender/rack eyelet could be brazed to them, or are they a little too pared down?
Hey,
Good question. You should be able to braze a small eye in the backside of the dropout for a fender without issue………. you’ll just want to look at the size of the fender tab to be sure it doesn’t get in the way of the QR skewer. If running a rack I think it would be best to mount an hourglass type braze-on very low on the stay – right above the dropout.
