Bits and Pieces.
Over the past 100 years or so it seems that most bike and frame parts have been refined and in some cases nearly perfected. But there are a few things that I found I always wanted better versions. So this lead me to having my own made.
The first part I had made for me were brass adjusters. The standard aluminum adjusters so many bikes come with are just awful. They corrode and freeze in place and then break off when you try to spin them out with pliers as a last resort. There are also some stainless adjusters out there and while they work much better I think they are too strong. Odd I know but I feel that if you give the adjuster a strong whack from the side that they should bend (but not break) and not do the frame harm. The stainless adjusters can be so strong that when they take a good hit that they will put the braze-on right of the frame.
So my answer is to use brass. It’s non-corrosive so it will spin just was well 5 years after you screw them in as the day you screwed them in. They are also very ductile so they will bend a long way without breaking off. So if you do get tangled up in a crit corner with a bunch of other bikes and bend the adjuster you can then just screw it out and replace it with a new one. No harm done to the frame at all.
That – and they are shiny!
The second part I had made has been talked about in the past and that is my Triple F dropouts. They are as small, light and simple a dropout as I could imagine. They are simple to work with making it easier to get an accurate alignment if you are the builder. They are also designed so that the wheel naturally feeds into place and you can make very fast and just slam the wheel into place if need be.
I show these now because I just got new orders in and a pile of them looks cool. I sell the adjusters to anyone and you can find them on my accessories page – http://www.kirkframeworks.com/accessories.htm  .
For those builders interested in the Triple F dropouts please contact me for pricing and availability. The drops are only available to builders who can show proof of liability insurance.
I have many other frame components in mind and will be bringing them to market slowly as time and budget allow and I’ll be sure to out them here.
Thanks for looking,
Dave
