On its way.

This frameset just passed through Bozeman on it’s way from Joe Bell’s place near San Diego to New Taipei City, Taiwan. I love the way the paint came out and even like the new signature decal on the top tube. I’ve always been hesitant to put my name in one more place on the bikes (it’s not like it isn’t there in enough spots already) but we get constant requests for my signature and in the end I like it very much. My thanks to JB for taking my signature and turning it into a decal.

Thanks for looking.

Dave

Hey Dave it’s cool how the gold pinstriping makes your lugwork pop without taking away from the rest of the bike. That red isn’t a color that I don’t remember if I’ve ever seen and it works really well. Do your customers in other countries go through any different steps when they want you to build them a frame? Is there a language barrier that needs to be accounted for?

Great looking paint on this frame. I like the new signature decal, and especially like the placement of the MT decal. Being a bit of a map fiend, I’ve always liked the MT decal.

    Hey Parris,

    Thanks for the comment.

You know dealing with an overseas customer is the same in concept as working with a domestic client but it does take more time and effort to be sure that everything is just right. There is a bit of a language barrier but thank goodness that most of the world speaks/writes English along with their native language. All that is required is that I take my time, double check everything, and do my best to not use any slang or make jokes that don’t translate well. But the important thing is just taking time to be sure everyone is on the same page.

So in the end the process is the same but each step just takes a bit longer. I very much like that so much of my work is going overseas – it’s fun for me to deal with the different cultures and people. Right now I’m finishing up a JKS that will head to Switzerland when JB is done with it. Another is getting some chrome plated dropouts and is headed to Belgium. It makes me feel worldly even thought I seldom get more than 50 miles from my home in Montana.

    Thanks again,

    Dave
