Competitive Cyclist.
Awhile back I got an email from Brendan from The Competitive Cyclist inquiring about a new bike. Now this is a but unusual as he sells high end bikes through his website ( http://www.competitivecyclist.com/ ) but it was good to hear from him and flattering that he was interested in my work. I replied to his note, as I always do, and didn’t hear back from him so after a week or so touched base with him again to be sure his questions were answered. I got a pleasant reply saying he was still thinking about what he wanted to do. Very good.
Then yesterday a few different friends sent me a link to an article on the Competitive Cyclist website – I was surprised to see the article was about Brendan approaching a few different builders about having a steel bike built and that I was one of the three builders he sent emails to. A very nice surprise.
I think the article and the related comments are an interesting read. If you have a few free moments check it out –

Thanks again for reading.

I enjoyed the quote: ” Outside of el hefe Richard Sachs, no builder has a greater nationwide rep for building amazing bikes than Dave, so his year-plus leadtime was understandable.”
Bravo (. . . though I fear I will wake up one day and you have joined Richard and Sacha in the 5+ year backlog club).
Yrs, Eric
P.S. I think it should be “el jefe”
Thanks for the comment.
I sincerely hope that my wait never grows that long……….in fact it’s the last thing I want to happen and i work very hard to try to keep it as short as possible. The longer the wait, the more time I spend managing the ‘list’ and the less time I spend making bikes. Short is good.
Thanks again,
