An early January ride? In Montana? Really?

One doesn’t come to Montana to ride their bikes in the winter – ski yes – bike no. But this winter is really odd and the skiing is not good but the riding is great. It was 48° when I headed out for a ride on my cross bike this afternoon which is a solid 20° above ‘normal’ so I couldn’t resist going out for an hour after work.

I ran across some horses that really wanted me to toss one of their hay bales over the fence to them. They started to run along the fence next to me as I left them. Good horses.

Get it while it lasts.

I hope my GF doesn’t see this but, I have to move!

  2. As part of my New Year’s plans I intend to ride at least one 100 mile journey a month. A target that I believe I can achieve if I apply myself. January is a bit of a tough month due to other responsibilities but it’s been suggested I do a ride to Southend (or Bognor or Brighton) for Fish n Chips.

We’re getting the same type of weather here in Calgary too Dave. Since we’re a little further from the mountains the skiing/boarding is not too bad. Hope you get more snow so you can get out of the shop a bit for some “normal” winter activity.

  4. Hi Dave! Maybe Montana is changing because of global warming, I love riding bike on January but I sense something is not right. I hope that it will not have a bad effect in the long run, for now I will enjoy riding the beast.

  5. I hope that’s a good thing, Dave. You sound really excited and glad about it. Those horses look really great, I don’t get to see such scenes that often.
