Onesto.

I started working with Reynolds 953 stainless steel tubing in 2006 when I first introduced the JK Special line of bikes which utilize a custom mix of 953 stainless, 853 Pro, and special non-stainless stays and blades made by Reynolds just for the JK Special…and over the years I’ve been asked countless times if I could make a 100% stainless frameset and up until now the answer has always had to be “no.”

The reason for this was simple – the chainstays, seat stays and fork blades that were available would have allowed me to make a nice looking bike but not one that would ride as I felt it should. As much as I want my bikes to be easy to look at it’s far more important to me that they ride right first with looking good being an added bonus.

With this in mind I was very pleased to have been asked by Reynolds last year for my input on new 953 stainless stays and blades and just this spring the new parts have become available. Now, for the first time, I can offer a fully stainless steel bike that has a great raw and honest stainless look and an even better ride. I’m pleased to announce a very limited run of five lugged stainless bikes that I’m calling Onesto. The pricing for these five frame and fork sets is $4250 and they can be purchased as a fully built ready-to-ride bike or as a frameset. The framesets will have polished logos and a bright and frosty glass bead finish as shown.

I’m really looking forward to building more editions of the Onesto and finally being able to show off the much fussed over metalwork that many have told me they’d like to see. I often share photos of my non-stainless bikes before paint and a common request is to leave it raw so as to show off the metal work…unfortunately with steel this doesn’t work out as we’d like it to. But with stainless I can build the frame and finish it without any paint at all and really show off the hand worked lugs and details. The end result is an honest bike with the ride of the JK Special and the look of raw stainless. As a craftsman I’m excited to now be able to show off a bit and finally give people what they have been asking for.
