Professional photos.

One of the fun things about being an exhibitor at NAHBS is that they bring in a professional photographer to shoot the builders and their bikes. Just a few seconds of being in front of  the camera is enough to make me appreciate how hard modeling is and why I work alone in the garage. I am not a natural in front of the camera – I’m better behind it that is for sure. In fact after the guys took a few shots of me looking no doubt stoic he said something like “try to look like you actually want to be here” and I laughed he ended up with one of the only photos of myself that I don’t hate.

So here are the results of my photo shoot. Let me know what you think of  the bike shots.

Thanks again,

Dave

P.S. By the way. The pictured show bike is now sold. Thanks for all the interest. The fillet frameset is still available.

You’re right about the photos; they are exceptional without there being any apparent extra expense involved.
As a result of the photo shoot, did you learn anything that you’d like to incorporate into your own efforts such as a color change in your backdrop or lighting?

Okay, you’re not bad but that bike is gorgeous! WOW, that color and decal combo is amazing! Where is the lucky rider from? It would be great for Kirk owners to get together for a group ride.

    Thanks for the comment.

I did learn a good bit watching them shoot my bike. Unfortunately I didn’t learn anything about technique but instead saw all the stuff I would need to buy. The huge flood flashes and lighting set up were very cool but may be more than a bit out of my budget. Combine that with the computer that had to directly monitor their work and camera settings and I see I’m a bit out of my league. Of course even if I had all this stuff I’d have no idea what to do with it so the real thing those guys have that I don’t is skill and experience.

That said – I have plans to up my game some as soon as the budget allows. The learning process is fun and I look forward to getting better at photography.

    Thanks again,

I think I might need to have a professional photographer on staff just waiting for me to make something to shoot. How much could that cost? Not that much.

I too think a get together would be fun. A number or years ago we hosted a Serotta Forum gathering here in Bozeman and had about 25 folks from all over the country make the trip to ride and eat good food here. We had a great time. Frankly I don’t know how much people that live at sea level liked riding here. It’s a harsh environment – hot and very dry in the summer and there are no flat roads here. I know some had fun but others not so much. I think I made the mistake of trying to make the rides fun for folks of all levels of fitness and skill and you know what they say about trying to please everyone. If we did it again I might just say right up front that the rides will be fairly hard even if not all that long and that you will need to bring your climbing legs.

How does that sound to you?

Dave: is the fillet brazed frame still available for sale? If so, how much is it , can you state what the geometry is and is there any color available once it gets painted? thanks

  6. Bob G says:

I saw the geometry in another thread, too small.

If you want to email or call directly we can go over the details of the bike and check the fit for you.

And yes it is still available.
